5 Reasons You’re Losing Lash Clients

As a talented lash artist, you’ve worked so hard to build your eyelash client base, and you do great eyelash extensions. So why are you having trouble getting clients? Or why do your clients decide not to come back?

In this article, we’ll discuss 5 reasons why you could be losing your lash clients and easy ways to bring them back.

1. Posting Unprofessional Content

It may be fun to post memes about annoying clients and their habits, but it’s

probably driving potential clients away. Think about it: if a client already feels judged by your social media, they’re not going to book with you. The same holds true if you post screenshots of conversations with clients. If clients feel like you won’t respect them or their conversations with you, they’re going to book with the lash artist.

2. Gossiping About Other Clients

So you’ve got the client in your chair, and you’re doing her eyelash extensions. But maybe you’re struggling to find things to talk about, and you default to complaining about other clients. It’s good to feel comfortable around clients, but not too comfortable.

Consider that your current client probably doesn’t feel comfortable gossiping about your other clients. She’ll leave wondering: “What does she say about me?” It comes off as unprofessional. When you have clients in the chair, stick to talking about the client.

3. Answering Phones Unprofessionally

If you’ve listed your phone number as the primary contact for your business, you’ll have to answer your phone professionally. If you called a business and they answered casually, you’d probably be confused and wonder if it’s a respectable place.

You may think your clients are cool with being very casual and personal. In some ways, it’s good to build those personal relationships. But when people are spending their money with you, they need to feel like they can trust you. The phone call is often the first impression they get of you and your business. Leave a good impression by answering: “Business name, how can I help you?” instead of “Hello? Hello!?”

4. Talking Too Much About Yourself

Clients come to you to get their eyelash extensions, but there’s also a huge personal element to this industry. You want your clients to get quality lashes but also feel like they can trust you. Unfortunately, some lash artists go too far and talk too much about themselves. It’s understandably confusing, as some people want to hear about your drama but others don’t.

Stay on the safe side by asking questions about the client first. If they ask you questions, answer politely but don’t talk too much. Some people don’t want to talk, and that’s fine. Let them dictate what they’d like to talk about or how much they want to talk.

5. R.B.F.

You’ve heard of it: RBF. If you have it, you probably know. While it’s not necessarily your fault, it’s something to be aware of. RBF can be very off-putting for many clients. If they feel like you’re judging them or don’t like them, they won’t come back.

If you have RBF, be polite and let them know. Make a joke out of it and assure them you’re happy they’re there. Try to control your facial expression to something more pleasant. It’s a lot of work, but worth it when you work with clients face to face as a lash artist.
