Lately, there has been a lot of concern about the use of formaldehyde in eyelash extension glue. Here’s what you need to know:
What is formaldehyde?
Formaldehyde is a colorless chemical with a very strong smell found in a lot of manufacturing products, including glue. It’s sometimes found in cosmetics, because of its use as a preservative. Formaldehyde is probably most famous for being used in embalming fluid at funeral homes.
Formaldehyde is also a known carcinogen, and prolonged exposure has been linked to cancer. Yikes! Brazilian blowouts, a hair treatment that leads to straighter, shinier hair, have become controversial because of their use of harsh chemicals like formaldehyde.
What Issues Is Formaldehyde Linked To?
Formaldehyde exposure has been linked to:
Cancer
Respiratory issues
Irritated, watery eyes
Severe inflammation of the eyes (especially when used in eyelash extension glue)
Headaches
Nausea
At BrandedLASH we want your clients' eyelash extensions to be beautiful, but we also want them to be safe. That’s why we only sell safe, medical-grade adhesive that does NOT contain formaldehyde.
